Tucked between Mount Royal and Lake Dillon sits the old mining and ski town of Frisco, Colorado. As Summit County locals, Frisco is where we head to meet up with friends for a beer and a board game and to swap stories from the weekend’s adventures. Here are 7 great ways to make the most of your weekend in the mountains

 



Day 1

An invetiably active day calls for a great breakfast to start the day. Try the cozy Butterhorn Bakery & Café on Main Street; they offer amazing breakfast and pastries all day.  A renowned local hang out its best to get there early. If you don't want to wait in line they offer coffee and freshly baked pastries to-go. 

 

.02 Frisco adventure park

With biking and disc golf in the summer and tubing and cross-country skiing in the winter, there’s always something going on at the Frisco Adventure Park. A short drive from Breckenridge and right on the banks of Lake Dillon, we recommend a trip here for anyone that’s looking for an excuse to get outside. Not much of an athlete? The disc golf and tubing offer low-impact options.

Home to some of the most scenic kayaking in the state, Dillon Reservoir and the Frisco Marina is located at the bottom of Main Street Frisco. Ideal on a summers day or  in the fall if you want to have the best chance of spotting truly epic foliage colors. This area is know for it’s many golden aspens during this time of the year..

 

.04 Apres- Kayak

After a hard day head to the Outer Range Brewing Co, Frisco’s favorite brewery. It’s a trendy spot, where you can spend time enjoying their variety of IPAs and Belgians. Outer Range even sells their beer in cans, so you can take your favorite back to 481 west main street. There’s a great patio areas with magnificent views of Mt Royal and Peak one. The brewery is BYOF (food), so stop by whole Foods across the street and pick up a pizza or salad before soaking up a Summit County Sunset.

Day 02.

.05 rise and shine

Like all good days, Day 2 must start with coffee. Head to Rocky Mountain Roasters for a variety of fresh roasted coffee that Summit County locals love. Grab a light breakfast, baked good, or maybe just a steamy cup o’ joe or tea to get the day started.

 

.06 Hit the (trail) Head

Frisco is truly the gateway to the front range. If you want to spend time in the outdoors there a huge variety of hiking trails within a very short distance of the town. There is simply too many to choose from. Whether your a novice, family or experienced hiker check out our recommend hiking trails.

 

.07 vail pass bike ride

Its all downhill on your second afternoon. Quite literally.  Take a shuttle bus from Frisco to the top of Vail pass and coast 12 miles on paved trail from the top of Vail Pass through Copper Mountain Resort ending in the town of Frisco. This trip is perfect for families and folks that just want spectacular views and not much pedaling. Most participants in this trip will stop at Copper Mountain and take a scenic chairlift ride, play miniature golf, scale the rock climbing wall, ride go-carts, visit shops in the village, have a picnic, or have lunch at a local café. When finished at Copper the riders travel down to Frisco through the incredible Ten Mile Canyon on paved trail. Along this stretch of the trail the rider can stop and sit by one of the many beautiful mountain lakes, lounge by the stream, or visit an old mine.
